LMF 2019 Young Artists Scholorship

2019 YOUNG ARTIST SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION:

Lisker Music Foundation is a passionate non-profit organization which strives to support young artists by offering them the platform to showcase their brilliant abilities, while simultaneously infusing the community with world class music making.  Now, as a natural progression to our mission, we are very excited to announce this inaugural 2019 Competition for Instrumentalists!

Acceptance of application material will end on 

November 15th, 2019

Results of the competition will be announced by November 20th, 2019.

All application materials must be submitted online by uploading them to a neatly organized folder on Google Drive, DropBox, or another cloud-based site, and then providing us with a link to view this folder. 

The link to your Application Materials must be received via email to ekelner@LiskerMusicFoundation.org on or before the submission deadline (November 15th, 2019).

THE PRIZES

1st Prize: $500

&

will perform solo with the LMF Chamber Orchestra on December 1st, 2019 presenting Vivaldi ‘s Four Seasons “Winter”.

2nd Prize: $300

3rd Prize: $200

ELIGIBILITY

  • Applicants must be 18 Years or younger as of 11/15/2019

  • Must study violin in the state of Illinois

  • Must be available to perform on December 1st, as well as in the days leading up for rehearsals yet TBD.

  • All applicants must present an online video audition performing Vivaldi’s Four Season “Winter” in its completion, as well as 1 other work of your choosing that best represents your abilities.  Accompanist is required where applicable, and you will be judged for the quality of playing, as well as the quality of the video/audio recording.

EVALUATION GUIDELINES

Technique

  • Accuracy of intonation

  • Good coordination between right and left hands

  • Accuracy of passages

  • Memorization

  • Proper Rhythm

 

Musicality

  • Informed artistic interpretation

  • Good sense of overall structure of piece, connecting all movements in terms of energy and sound.

  • Knowledge of accompaniment part, and utilizing it to accentuate your performance  

  • Effective use of dynamics, articulations, and expression marks

  • Stage Presence

  • Permission letter from private teacher

  • Proof or residence

  • 1-page bio

  • High Resolution Color head-shot

  • Provide link to an unedited video audition uploaded to YouTube as an “unlisted” video including the required piece, and a piece of your choosing
