CONG WU

VIOLIN

As the Robertson Prize winner of the 13th Primrose International Viola Competition, violist Cong Wu has given concerts all across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany, and much of Asia.  As an avid chamber musician, Cong has collaborated with such world renowned artists as Shmuel Ashkenasi, Christoph Eschenbach, Paul Katz, and Itzhak Perlman.  In addition to his solo and chamber music career, Cong is also a seasoned orchestral performer having been the principal violist of the Juilliard Symphony Orchestra, the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra, and the China Youth Symphony Orchestra under the batons of Christoph von Dohnayi and James Levine.

Cong Wu holds his Bachelor of Music degree from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China where he studied with Mr. Wing Ho.  He then went on to earn his Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School in New York where he studied with Ms. Heidi Castleman and Ms. Hsin-yun Huang.  Cong is currently pursuing his Artist Diploma at the Manhattan School of Music where he is studying with Maestro Pinchas Zukerman and Ms. Patinka Kopec.
