2019 COMPOSITION CHALLENGE:

MUSICAL MOTIF

 

Lisker Music Foundation is very excited to present our 2019 Composition Challenge, a unique

themed competition for classical composers around the world.

THE CHALLENGE

 

Compose a musical work based on the “Voloshin” Motif provided by LMF.

The piece must be composed for violin and piano and cannot exceed 10 minutes in length. 

Carefully read the Guidelines and Application form to see a detailed description about the motif, and  how to best utilize it.

THE PRIZES

  • $1000 Grand Prize

  • World Premiere of the Winning Composition in the LMF 2019 Spring Season in Chicago, Illinois.

  • Professional level Audio/Video recording from the premier

ELIGIBILITY

  • Submit all required application materials by: March 1st, 2019

  • Applicants must be 40 years or younger at time of submission

  • Composition must not exceed 10 minutes in duration

  • Work must be for writen Piano + Violin Duo

  • Composers may submit more than one piece, but each work requires its own application fee

HOW TO APPLY

 

All application materials must be submitted online by uploading them to a neatly organized folder on Google Drive, DropBox, or another cloud-based site, and then providing us with

a link to view this folder. 

The link to your Application Materials must be received via email to EKelner@LiskerMusicFoundation.org on or before the submission deadline (March 1st, 2019).

APPLICATION  CHECKLIST

  • Filled out application

  • 1-page bio

  • Score and Parts for the composition

  • A recording of the piece (Midi/Synthesized Software Rendering is Acceptable)

  • Essay (1-Page Max) describing your work, and how you approached integrating the outlined challenge into your creative process.

titled “CEM” by Chilean composer Javier Contreras performed by David Lisker (violin)

and Ana Vidovic (guitar).
